Members of an Islamic political party in Malaysia have decided to protest against Avril Lavigne’s concert in the country this Friday, it was announced. The show was initially banned for being considered ‘too sexy’ for the Muslim culture, but it was later approved after officials claimed Lavigne was "not a bad influence, especially on the young." Now, leader of the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party PAS, Nasrudin Hassan, has confirmed a protest. H e said, "A concert of this nature is not conducive to teach the younger generation to become good citizens, upright and competitive, but instead would weaken them morally and mentally. "If the concert organisers do not heed this warning to cancel the concert, PAS youth will order all Muslim youth to turn up and protest the concert in order to prevent it from taking place."
Finally Avril Lavigne will perform in Malaysia as part of her “Best Damn Tour” overseas. The singer has been banned for playing in the country because her show was labeled too risqué by the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party. The decision has been now altered according to promoter group Galaxy Group that announced the concert won’t contain any objectionable elements. The 23-year-old artist will also be touring in China, playing in Guangzhou at first, followed by other mainland cities like Shanghai, Beijing and Chongqing.
Malaysian authorities have called off Avril Lavigne’s concert in the country after the Islamic opposition labeled the show as "too sexy." The Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry claimed that it was inappropriate for society to hold the gig on August 29, two days ahead of the National Day. A member of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said that the Canadian star’s show was "considered too sexy for us" and would spread the wrong values on the eve of Malaysia's Independence Day, reports the Press Association.
